"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." Mark 1:35
This was Jesus' foundation for all he did in life! His early morning times alone with God set the tone for His day, allowing ample time to be charged with the Father's love and power, enabling him to do what he was called to do...from the ordinary to the extra-ordinary. Regardless of the assignment, he was ready.
What about you and I?
Are we prepared to meet our daily routines and challenges with the tender touch of God? Do we leave our homes confident in God's love for us because we have heard His intimate voice uniquely for us? Or do we struggle through our days with limited human strength because we have chosen not to be with the creator of the universe?
God has secrets he wishes to impart to those who will listen. He has wisdom to impart to hearts that are humbled by His word and honor his presence more than sleep, TV, iphone messaging, lesser things.
The famous scientist, George Washington Carver understood this. Here is the story he tells to describe his discovery of 300 uses for the peanut:
"All my life, I have risen regularly at four in the morning to go into the woods and talk with God. That's where He reveals His secrets to me. When everybody else is asleep, I hear God best and learn my plan.....This morning I asked Him why He made the peanut. He told me, 'separate the peanut into water, fats, oils, gums, resins, sugars, starches, and amino acids. Then recombine these under My three laws of compatibility, temperature, and pressure. Then, the Lord said, 'you will know why I made the peanut'!"
"The Lord always provides me with life changing ideas. Not that I am special. The Lord provides everyone with life changing ideas. These ideas are quite literally a treasure from the Almighty. It is up to each of us, however, to choose and dig for the treasure."
Let's make ourselves available to God each morning to hear from God, let him love us, and do what He tells us to do! If not, we simply miss out on God's highest and best.
As you seek Him, He will give you life changing ideas to parent your children, love your husband, generate income, be a good steward of your gifts and talents.
And even better---He will love you as a mother tenderly loves her nursing babe.
