Happy 4th of July everyone!
What a great day to not only reflect with gratitude on the freedoms we have in this great nation but also to ponder and discover new found freedoms in Christ! The Holy Spirit continues to unearth the joyous freedoms that are rightfully mine. To keep God's people from seeing these freedoms is a ploy of the enemy. It is downright robbery, and we Christ followers allow the blindness way too much!
Why are we ignorant of our freedoms in Christ?
We settle for far too little in our spiritual journey. We are lulled into believing that life is too hard and the world too evil and that we can never walk in victory. We do not have because we do not ask Him to show us what is rightfully ours.
We see ourselves separate from Christ when He is actually in us. "The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you ....he will give life to your mortal body..." Romans 8:11
Here are 2 treasures I recently found about freedom--
2 Cor 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
The Spirit of the Lord is in me. He is for me. I acknowledge His presence, welcome Him in me.
Love Him in me. Want Him in me.
Because He is so alive in me, I am celebrated because He is celebrated.
His life in me is celebrated!
As I hear the fireworks outside tonight, I sense a celebration in my Spirit! We are One again. We are together again and that is cause for much celebration in heaven! I am free to receive love again like in the garden before the fall. Free to trust, enjoy the pleasures of living, in each stage.
Eden means “pleasure” and because of what Jesus did for me on the cross, I can enjoy what was lost in the garden. Close, intimate life with the Father. Delight not duty. Acceptance not fear.
I am free to express who I really am, and I feel His pleasure as I do so! No covering is needed. No hiding. The real me, celebrated.
John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
If I allow the Son to set me free….if I believe in His goodness and walk in the freedom from myself that He offers, I will be unhindered in living. Able to be who I was meant to be from the beginning of time.
But what other things do we trust in to set us free? Temporary," less than" things. Things that don’t satisfy or last.
"Things" like thinking relationships will free from lonely, more stuff to free from boredom, drink to free the pain.
Freedom comes when I believe the truths He says about me, setting me free from the lies that say I am not enough, not desired, bound by others' opinions of me.
I let the Son set me free most mornings as I awaken to His love. I invite you to venture out on your own and discover for yourself all the freedoms awaiting you!
